Green Grotto (North Coast Highway, 3 km. east of Discovery Bay) – located on the north central coast of the island, these are show caves and a major tourist attraction. Connected with adjacent coastal waters, these caves are rich in history – with Spanish settlers using them as a hideaway when the British were driving them out of Jamaica, and during pre-Columbian times, the Arawak Indians used them as well (as shown by the artifacts they left behind). Admission: US$20 (adult), US$10 (child). Hours: Daily from 9:00 am to 4:00pm. Call (876) 973-2841 or see the Green Grotto’s website (www.greengrottocavesja.com) for more details.
